Maria F. Chapman

Writer, Editor, Coach, Disability Advocate

Welcome! I am a writer, editor, and coach who helps entrepreneurs craft written content to expand their reach and scale their business. I write about sexual health, mental health, chronic illness, parenting, relationships, and education. I also coach others who say, “I wish I could write from my favorite coffee shop for a living.”

I dreamed of writing for a living from the day my father built a white desk in the corner of my pink bedroom. Before I knew how to write, I scribbled lines on page after page of lined paper.

I gave up that dream early in my college career because I hadn’t yet developed the ability to look inside myself for guidance. I sought approval externally and tried to find it. And I did, for a while.

I built a 13-year career in elementary education, working as a literacy instructional coach for the latter half of my career. If I couldn’t allow myself the freedom of playing with words all day, at least I could teach others to enjoy it, right? I enjoyed the work, especially coaching adults through goal setting and new learning. But then, a health crisis forced me to reevaluate my priorities.

Then, I pivoted and built a dream.

I learned that quitting is not failing - it’s just making a different decision. I left my third Master’s program that would have qualified me for a position in educational administration.

I learned to assess my values and create a life that prioritizes them because when we live within our value system, we find success. I scaled back every part of my life except the most valuable.

I created a life that energizes rather than depletes me. There’s more of me to give to my kids, husband, friends, and, more importantly, myself. Now, I want to help you identify your dreams and devise a plan to reach them. Whether you need help with creating website content, writing a book, or learning to make a living writing, I can guide you through the process and ensure you get the results you seek.

I live in Middlefield, Connecticut, and when I’m not coaching bad-ass entrepreneurs and writers, spinning words, or reading, you’ll find me on a hiking trail, a ski slope, or a beach surrounded by my husband and our five children. I also spend time in disability advocacy work because I know how quickly life can change, and how unpredictable our health is.
